Weight and balance
« on: 01 June 2010, 12:54 »
Can anyone provide the empty CG limits in inches for the B model?   I spent Saturday trying to perform a weight and balance check on my ASW15.  It turns out that the FAA data sheet CG limits are loaded limits (including pilot weight). MY acft falls within these limits, however the AI performing my annual tells me he can't use loaded limits for a log book entry.
thanks
Tom

Tom-

Unless I misunderstand something, I don't think he's got it right. The TCDS gives the allowable CG range for the loaded, flying aircraft. (For any aircraft- look at a few) There is no official empty weight CG range.

The A&P or AI are just responsible for locating the empty weight CG of your particular aircraft and its fixed equipment and writing it down. Period.

The pilot is responsible for making sure the aircraft is within the flight CG limits.
