glider makes a right turn
« on: 04 December 2008, 05:04 »
High,
Does anybody know what's the contents of the "C" maintenance instruction from Schleicher here http://www.alexander-schleicher.de/tm/15/tm15.htm . The title is "Segelflugzeug fliegt bei losgelassenem Knüppel eine Rechtskurve / Glider makes a right turn, stick free." My ASW 15 does exactly that. So I'm curious how to fix that.

Any help is appreciated.

Tibor.

Without adding a trim tab of some sort, I believe you may be limited to changing the weight.

What about adding some small weight maybe inside the spoiler box on the left wing.  Try a little bit, then add to it as neccesary.

Or if you have water bags, add some more water to the left bag, or a weight inside there.

My only other thought it to have your ailerons adjusted if possible.  Such as the rigging of the pushrods to the ailerons, have them adjusted in length so in a neutral position you have more right aileron down than previously.

These are just ideas, I'm no mechanic.  Hope it helps or spawns a new idea.

I got an answer from the manufacturer. I'm attaching the document, if anybody is interested. I didn't try to do it yet though, because it seems to me that the aileron rods can be manipulated only after detaching the whole aileron :-(.
