« on: 18 June 2004, 11:22 »
Hi,

I'm searching for information about the ASW-15BM or other ASW-15 with a small engine.

What are the facts of the plane
What is a the price of that plane on the marked?
Where can I find such plane?

There is only one plane left in the world.
There were two.
It was sold last week to Uetersen.
The price was 23500€.
( I know this because I wanted to by, but I was too late. )
STD Instruments, E-Vario, Radio, Aluminium self build trailer.
Not certificated parachute. 35PS Hirth engine.

You can´t by anywhere.

In this tread   they say there are 5 built, so there are still chances to buy one.

Hello Johan.

It´s said, that´s true.
But Schleicher didn´t manufacture 15s with engine.
The 2 planes were rebuild by privat persons.
The ASW15BR and the ASW15BM.
These planes flow not common certificated.
They had a certificate for this one a/c only.
With this you have a little trouble in foreign countries.
But this is managable.
The ASW15BR is lost due to a mid air collision.
( was the better one ´cause of 43PS engine )
The ASW15BM was 3 years out of service and now flies in Uetersen ( North Germany ).

Beliefe me.
I know the history of the 15.
I fly one now for 14 years.
Looked out for the remaining 15 with motor but was too late...  :(

Hallo,

Is it possible to rebuild an ASW-15 to an ASW-15 with engine?

Second hands engine are easy to find.  Old engine of the DG's......

But when you rebuild an ASW-15, is it possible to get the correct certificates.

What is the price of such operation?

Kind regards

Jan

Hi,

I asked last year the german authoritiers to do so.
You have following problems.
1. The Manufacturer has to approve this.
2. Your national authorities have to approve, too.
3. The ASW15 is not build for the aerolastics.
The mass of the fuselage and the elevator gets too hight.
You have to cut the wings by 30cm per side to stay in the tension envelope.
4. The price of the engine and the folding system is very high.
I asked once what the system takes for the ASH26e.
I´ve been told about 35000€.
I think you won´t get managed to do it for less than 10000€.
And that´s 1 1/2 time the worth a fifteen.

If you get it managed let me know.
I know one who has the documents of the ASW15BR.
He has also a Rotax 505 with cables to take it in a 15.
But no tower and no folding mechanism.
But maybe he sells you this.

If there is interest let me know and I sent you the number.

Sorry, I didn't attempt to doubt your knowledge. As said, thanks for your input.

@Matheussen: In case of you want to build your own. I know of a group of scandinavian people who are converting common gliders to jets:

Hello Johan!

I asked also to build in a turbine.
A comrad of mine performs tests on A Ventus.
Following problems:
1. ITS VERY VERY LOUD!!!
2. The common 13kg engines have too low power.
3. See all above... ( I asked the german LBA... no chance )
4. The fuel consuption is very high. About 100l/h.
5. The exhaust beam is hot and may damage the tail.

But a kolleg of mine builds these kind of engines for models.
He has now a 30kg turbine in test.
The engine is to build for about 1500€.
Maybe there is improvement in the future.
