stick bearings/maintenance
« on: 25 November 2005, 06:57 »
recently I became the proud owner of an ASW 15. Inspection learned that the bearings of the connection between the stick and both the elevator and aileron bellcrank are not in good condition. For this reason I need to temove the stick from the aircraft. Does anyone know how to remove the long bolt wich is connecting the stick to the ribs. It puzzles me how they dit get it in. Probably they took the bolt and built a magnificent glider around it

we had the same problem with ares, its hard but it can be done!!
you will slice you skin doing it, but we did do it with out cutting any holes in the seat pan.
we have also replaced the bearing in the bell crank in the fin!!!
you do need to cut holes in the fin!! but there should be a old hole there from a MOD that should have been do a few years ago!
it made a big differance to change the rear bell crank bearings!
good luck!

Thanks for your reaction. I have removed the bolt in pieces, and made a new one and a small hole in the seat pan just in front of the stick to put it trough.

Best regards
