spoilers opening
« on: 13 October 2005, 05:41 »
Hi all,

I've found during my last flight a differenre in the gap between the opening of the right and the left spoiler. Le left one open 1 inch more than the right one. There's no effect during the flight or the approach (no yaw and no roll) with the spoilers full open. When they are closed, the spoilers are flush with the wing. Do you have the same result as me? If not, how can I ajust it?

Our 15B has similar difference although not as large as yours - the manual does spell out acceptable limits.  There is an adjustment that can be made on the spoiler connection.

We consulted our Aircraft Maintenance Engineer and his recommendation was leave it as is.  He indicated that it is not unusual for gliders to have small differences on spoiler extension.  He did of course point out that if there was severe effects during flight - then adjustments would be necessary.

Our 15 handles normal during spoiler use.

Kai
