ASW-15 QUESTIONS
« on: 14 September 2005, 09:00 »
I am considering the purchase of a -15 out of Canada and will be going to look it over this Saturday.

Any good advice when inspecting an ASW-15 for purchase?

Any one have all of the ADs required for registering a -15 in the U.S.?  Especially the spar inspection(s) that apply to U.S. registered -15s.  The original spar inspection was done in Canada, so the supplement to #23 may have to be complied with, but I don't know what it is.

Any one have any additional manuals for the -15? i.e Repair manual, etc.  I appreciate the .pdf POH and the efforts put in to create it  THANKS!

What about a hinged canopy mod?  Any out there that are documented?  Kit?

Would it be better to register in EXP vis STD?  This one was originally here in STD and exported to Canada, registered in STD .

How about a instrument panel pattern, the one installed looks 35 years old and I would like to up date it with a new panel, might not be state of the art but more modern.

is an  A or B,  for the A  I have the AD 23    and I have a panel pattern that I could copy in paper  roll it up and send it to you.   Basically  if spars have not been funguscide treated, they will have to be.  But in 1980something  it was dictated that they all get it so if it has been flying legally  it has very probably been treated.  There are 3 AD's which must be done.  The spar funguscide, the elevator belcrank mod or constant inspections, and there is a rudder clearance regular inspection,  the one side of the rudder skin where it slides close under the other when deflected, I think it is the left side.
