storage and wood questions
« on: 15 April 2004, 20:20 »
Hi all you 15 owners. I need some help here. I am considering buying a 15 but I don't know much about the glass/balsa ships. Since I don't have access to a hanger or garage, I'm worried about storing the ship in the trailer during the winter months. Would this be harmful to the wood structure? Should I not consider this type of glider based on my situation? Also, what about rigging, is it easy, can one person do it? What would be considered a "high time ship"? I think the 15 is one of the most beautiful ships made and it is a top choice if these issues can be resoved. Thanks for your help. Its nice to see such a following for this particular ship.

Well I dont think you would have any problem with the ship if it was stored in a good waterproof trailer with good ventilation.
As far as high time 15s, Im not sure but mine has done 1700hrs and Im lovin it.
The only thing unusual about some of these ships is the launch swing tendacy due to the off centre tow hook.
This can be modified if you like, but it seems many pilots can get used to this.
I think you will find discusion on this in the other forums.
But the 15 is a great ship and still performs beautifully for the price.
As far as rigging goes, it is one of the easiest and fastest ships to rig, but I wouldnt want to do it on my own, I find 3 people is a good number.
