Looking at the pictures, the canopy system is very similar to the libelle. Is the canopy not to heavy to open this way without a spring or something like that? And I am a tall guy (I barely fit), does this construction reduce headspace like in the libelle?

I would go for the cirrus/discus canopy system.

I had an e mail from Peter Wells the UK agent for Schleicher and he said it was cheaper to sell my 15 and buy a 19 than do the mod on your canopy!!!!! So i guess it comes down to how much you like your plane!! just thought I would let you all know

there is no break away apart from the fact that if the canopy opens it is so big it would break away the top of the fuz hinge and all :(

My partner in crime  and I want to convert the canopy of our 15 to the cirrus/discus way of opening. Has someone already  done that?

I am looking for drawings for our technician who wants to help us out in this.

Hey,
just answer to the old post as it might be helpful for other fans.
Around 2014 / 15 there was the 15 (OK-2029)  for sale on Segelflug.de with the hinged canopy.
As far as I remember there was written, the modification was done by a workshop in Czech Republic which used to work on SCHEMPP-HIRTH Gliders. ( unfortunately I copied only the pictures)
Best regards, Max

Ps, @ the admin, is there a way to ad more than one picture to one post?
