push rod seals
« on: 21 September 2022, 13:01 »
Hi All,
I was wondering if there was some advice on if it is worth sealing the push rod exits in the wing root and what is the best way/material to use, also if anyone has a diagram or template for the seals would be appreciated.

Thanks
Adam

Hi
Good question - After having just had a 3k inspection and wing root replacement carried out I am thinking the same thing, whilst the glider is not being used much during our winter. I have covered up the forward holes with wing tape but I have tried cutting some foam blanks as a better solution but they dont seem to work very well - i will keep on trying

Definitely interested. I might try to take some measures and then 3D print

Currently using some scrap foam.

I plan to make some birch plywood wing root covers that are spring-loaded hold the spoilers/airbrakes shut without pulling them over-center and stressing the caps during storage -the springs of which will also hold the cover in place at the root. Waiting until the root rib replacement is complete to do this.

When I acquired the glider I had to remove a lot of mouse nesting detritus from the interior of both wings.
