ASW15b Elevators wanted (UK)
« on: 15 November 2013, 14:07 »
I am looking for a set of elevators for a 15b with associated tail fin fixings following an unfortunate ground handling incident. If anyone can help please get in touch as Schleicher are thinking about whether they will make the parts but it is not looking too likely. I am in the UK but do not mind where the come from in the world.

Hi Chuck,

I was looking through the US FAA accident database and there was a destroyed 15 in Texas.  I contacted the owner because I am trying to restore 15230 and having spares is never a bad idea.  That's not exactly how my wife thinks, but she is not male.  Anyway, it was the typical stall/spin on final.  pretty much everything was destroyed, but the elevators & fin, although the rudder was not fully attached.  That was back in the fall.  I didn't pursue if further because much of what I wanted to have as spares, (to store in my wife's laundry room) was damaged.  Luckily the pilot lived to fight another day.

If you are still looking, I will contact him and see what the disposition of the elevators is.

Regards,

John
