Dear Soaring Pilots!

I have started to fly the ASW15a (Rio de Janeiro Gliding Club) this year and I have done at about 70 hours in this season. The glider has only 750 hours and I am enjoying it! I participated with it in a Brazilian nationals and I got twice the first place at 105km in a 280km racing!

Welcome Itamar and well done with the 15 (it's not an a", there is no "a" version, only "15" and "15b"  )!

Nice video, indeed, and ... it makes me even more nostalgic for the flying season!

I noticed that you started the take off run with airbrakes open; is it due to the off center tow hook?

I'm curious because I own a "15" with such tow hook, and it's alway a little struggle at the early stages of take off, even if I follow the useful tips found on this forum.

I have a chin hook instead of the off center tow hook but I still use partial airbrakes on take-off so that I don't drop a wing. Using airbrakes gives you better control until there is enough air speed over the wing.
