Pitch stability
« on: 19 September 2014, 23:32 »
Hi Folks,

Are asw15s unstable in pitch in the way K6e's are?  While k6e's are an absolute delight to fly they are very unstable in pitch if you let go of the stick.  I've not been lucky enough to fly a '15 and would like to know if they share this trait with the K6 as they have a very similar all moving tail arrangement.

Regards

Clivo

I've never flown a K6 so I can't compare the two but my 15 is very stable when trimmed out and a dream to fly.

Nearest I have flown to a K6 is an SF27a - had a fully flying elevator as well. Many years ago but I recall how pitch unstable it was on tow. My ASW15 is nothing like that and it trims out and flies very well with no pitch instability.

Hello,

I have flown both many hours and I have to agree that the pitch of my ASW15 is much more stable that the one of the K6 has been. But especially in rough thermals the 15 wants to be flown as well and I can't let go of the stick for a long time. And my experience from aerotow launch is also that you have to fly more conscious. But overall it is to say that it is not difficult at all and it's very nice that you have a direct response in speedy when you move the pitch.

Cheers

Michel
