help with tailwheel mod?
« on: 29 July 2013, 13:52 »
Hi all

does anyone have plans for or know about mod for tailwheel?
I may soon have tailwheel from crashed '15' and wondered how complex the mod is?

If it's an original tailwheel from Schleicher; it's quite easy. You can ask them for the installation manual of the kit. I am wondering of you will get the kit removed from the wreck in one piece...

Hmm, I looked in my box of bills; the tailwheel kit was 150 euro's. Do you really want to salvage one from a crashed plane? BTW it was the best 150 euros spend ever!

Hi Guys

thanks for your replies
is only the wheel that I will have, rest of the fuselage is away to be a simulator, was really interested in wings, as the gelcoat on mine is very badly crazed and chipped -( still flies ok) but will be getting job lot including wheels, rudder and tailplane
really was just wondering whether I needed to buy kit or plans, and how complex a job it is, as I really struggle with skid sometimes....

PS - interesting that kit for tailwheel was 150 euros, when I enquired about a replacement rubber tailskid, would be £100!!  :o
