Hi Adam,
I took a hand-made paper copy of my old panel and designed a completely new 3-dimensional panel for my ASW15B a few years ago. Through this I could embedd all the instruments that I wanted more precisely, increase the space above the legs very significantly (for easier entry/exit to the seat, especially of interest in case of emergency!). Also I shrunk the width of the panel in the bottom area to reduce "bending the legs" around the panel during flight. To achieve this I had to lift the position of the old radio a bit upwards.
I produced the panel in glass fibre but unfortunately had to destroy the tool (which I made from wood and which was too much stuck despite the wax layer).
All pilots as well as the maintanence experts were really impressed. It´s very beautiful, robust and practical. And as it is mounted exactly to the fixed points like the original flat panel there is no approval issue.
You can view a picture of it in the "Media" file store of this website. Look for "New beauty by Uwe Spohn" (2009).
Best regards and many nice flights!
Uwe
