squeaking and creaking wings
« on: 22 May 2012, 22:11 »

Hi all,

On my first flight in several months I seemed to notice more squeaking and creaking from the wings, mostly around the wing roots.  I don't know if it was my imagination or not--or possibly the relatively high level of humidity, or what.  I was up for four hours and stopped paying attention to it after a while.  I'm not sure if it diminished or I just stopped paying attention.

Any insights from fellow ASW15B pilots would be appreciated.

Thanks

I noticed that too and I think it is some minimal friction between the pen and fork of the wing roots. At that place I see some worn paint. After a overhaul the squeeking is significant, but now its almost gone.

Is your glider rigged all the time or do you operate it out of the trailer?

Mine is rigged and I have had that issue too. I not pull the pins and grease them once every while and that helps a great deal.

Dirk
