New owner of D-0161

Hello everyone,

since yesterday I am the new owner of an ASW-15 registered formally to a friend in my club. I have flown already the club ASW-15B and I always loved it and after 22 years of flying I got my own one! Finally!! I consider the ASW-15 probably the most beautiful glider from its outward appearance and I felt comfortable from my very first flight with it. I am looking forward to many nice flights in the next season and I wish everyone always happy landings!

Yours

Michel

Do you have any pictures of it?

Hello everyone,

finally I got to fly my new baby and even though the winter was long and the airfield still a little sokaed it was worth waiting. I had my first 3 launches last weekend. And I have to say even though I have spend many hours on the ASW-15b of my club this was a complete new experience. It is 22 kilos lighter that the one of my club and the weight and balance is way better. I can still circle thermals comfortably with 75 km/h and when going forward 120 is also a very comfortable speed without having too much pressure on the stick. I am really looking forward to go cross country for the first time but this sunday looks good from the weather. and I take my camera with me so let's hope I can give you some nice impressions.

Cheers

Michel

Hello Everyone!

After a lonmg time of absence due to changes in work and a terrible accident in our club I would like to post some updates.
But first of all aboutthe accident. Unfortunately on new years evening our main hangar caught fire and 2/3 of our fleet was destroyed by it. Some planes simply burned some others were severly damaged by the smoke and ashes which are extremely corrosive. Unfortunately our ASW-15 from our club was severely damaged by the ashes as well so it is currently not useable anymore. Questionable if it will ever fly again.
My own ASW15 was stored in the trailer in an attached hangar so it was only damaged a little by the smoke and ashes. So this winter I found a place at a neighbor gliding club to restore the whole cockpit of my glider. You can see the results at my blog: http://0161blog.wordpress.com/
I had to repaintthe complete cockpit, change the seat belts and make a complete new panel and change some instruments as well since it was questionable if they will work properly after they had been affected by the smoke.

I hope we can get back to normal this season even though we will start later than usual.

Cheers

Michel

I have read about this dreadful event: a really bad start of the year. I hope you get your 15 flying soon!

Hello!

Thanks for your good wishes. Well my 1T is about to fly again. I just have to install my new LX8080 and put some small items back into place in my cockpit. But in the club we only have a new/used ASK21 for basic training and right now no flying single seater for training anymore. We all hope that we will be airborne again soon.

Cheers

Michel
